530106-Azerbaijan On September 28, 2012 Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov made a Statement at the General Debate of the 67th Session of United Nations General Assembly. In his speech, Mr. Mammadyarov said that the ongoing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan continues to represent a serious threat to international and regional peace and security. “We sincerely believe there is no alternative to peace, stability and mutually beneficial regional cooperation. As a country suffering from the occupation of its territories and the forcible displacement of hundreds of thousands of its citizens, Azerbaijan is the most interested party in the earliest negotiated settlement of the dispute,” the Minister said. The Foreign Affairs Minister also expressed Azerbaijan’s concern over the Middle East peace process, which he said has “been at a standstill,” and called on the parties to create the necessary conditions conducive to the resumption of negotiations.
