This year marks the 50th anniversary of James Bond film series which started in 1962 with the release of “Dr. No” starring Sean Connery as the lead character. James Bond originally appeared in Ian Fleming’s books about the British secret service and while the earlier films were based on his novels the latter were written by various authors who were fond of Fleming’s work. In the five decades of the series, twenty-two films have been released grossing over US $5 billion to date. The twenty-third Bond movie titled “Skyfall” will be released in U.S. theatres on November 9, and will once again star Daniel Craig as the lead character. After Craig’s success in the last two Bond films (Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace), audiences are very much looking forward for the new movie which will also star Oscar-winning Javier Bardem who will play the villain. According to CBS news, Bond’s anniversary will be celebrated in many ways including a documentary which will be shown on the EPIX channel titled “Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of James Bond,” along with auction at Christie’s where several items from Bond films including the Aston Martin from 2008’s “Quantum of Solace” will be sold. Also, for the hardcore fans of the series, don’t miss out on the new 50th anniversary box-set released this year which contains all twenty two James Bond films.
